Why a vegan bake sale?
Well the most important reason is sugar--people eating more than they should--and that = mucho money for the people of Haiti! Inspired by Post Punk Kitchen's Isa Chandra Moskowitz, vegan bake sales are popping up from Los Angles to New York. So far, with the help of many hunger vegans with a sweet tooth nationwide, over 10,000 dollars has been raised. With all the great vegan chefs in Dallas there is no reason why this bake sale shouldn't be just as successful!

What is the Haiti Earthquake?
On Tuesday January 12th, 2010, a major 7.0 earthquake, the most powerful to hit Haiti in a century, struck southern Haiti shortly before 5 p.m. The impact of the earthquake resulted in massive damage, and massive lives lost. The Haiti people were left without basic resources. Let's help 'em out!

Hi! I just want to say that this post is not accurate. I did not hold a bakesale in NYC, their bake sale is Sunday. Thus I did not raise 10K. Not sure where you got that! Good luck with your bake sales!

Isa, it might have been worded a little differently for clarity, but I think this post implies that the bake sales (at least this bake sale in particular) were inspired by your blog post (http://theppk.com/blog/2010/01/14/how-to-put-together-a-bake-sale-fast/) - not that you personally put on a bake sale.

Collectively from all bake sales, this is where I the dollar amount comes from (but I don't know how that amount was calculated).

Jamey,
Thank you so much for the input.
It's nice to get a different perspective from someone who was in my shoes not too long ago themselves.
Eventually, yes, I'd like to drop the lacto-ovo-pesce as well, but I think that would be more attainable over time like you said.
I'm not concerned about the weight issue and the dairy aspect of it, as I only eat fat free dairy products in very little moderation as is.
Again, thanks for the advice!
