I just got back from vacay in the dirty south…Brownsville, Texas (the southernmost tip of the state...and my hometown). Sure—not as exciting as Jamey’s biker rally in Austin, but I did enjoy visiting family and helping my grandmother celebrate her big eight-oh!
Here are some highlights from the trip:
Vegan flour tortillas made with coconut oil - Yum!
(Thanks, Mr. and Mrs. Casanova!)
Michael and Erica (my bro and sis-in-law) brought me some sweet gifts from Spain.
Check out my new PINK TIE!!!
And some Chocoreale! It's like Nutella, only better...because it doesn't contain milk!
The best corn tortillas in the world are from Capistran's.
I used these torts to make more of this simple dish :)
So now that I'm back in Dallas, I want to share some fun news with y'all. Dallas Vegan is now a content partner on Pegasus News. And even more exciting - we've scored ourselves a Drew! That's right - the same Drew we know and love from Vegan Eats Dallas is the newest contributor on Dallas Vegan. Keep your eyes peeled for Drew's "First-Look" at a new Asian eatery in town...
Leave a comment here welcoming Drew to Dallas Vegan for a chance to win a jar of Hazelnut Chocoreale. The winner will be chosen randomly and announced on Monday, July 20, 2009.
Good luck ;)

can I qualify for the drawing, lol?
That Daily Juice burrito was awesome, wasn't it? I think the tacos I had used the same 'tortilla' and somehow I managed to scarf down 2 of those.
Oh, and welcome Drew!
Hmm...
Sure, why not. I'll be using a random number generator to pick the winner.
Plus, you might be the only contestant :)
Man oh man, I used to love nutella, especially in Paris, in crepes; oh boy...must recreate in one of those hot tortillas too.
Your site is great, and your pink tie rocks!
Ah crud, forgot to welcome Drew, the whole point of posting a comment, right? totally psyched by the nutella tho;)
Your header is adorable and you've made me very hungry.
hey, is this the right spot to enter the contest?
Yep -- you're in, Jen :)
Thanks so much everyone!!
Brocka, I agree about the crepes and nutella. Made some savory ones last year and let the kids use some vegan (parve) israeli chocolate spread I had (widely available at middle eastern grocers).
It wasn't hazelnut, though.
I wants me some vegan Nutella. So should I be deleting one of my bookmarks, or is Vegan Eats Dallas continuing as well???
Bc, you raise a good question. Not really sure about the future of vegan eats dallas. For the time being you'll probably be able to see my pieces cross-posted over there. We may take the site in a different direction in the future. So, stay tuned! Thanks for asking!

Have a great night, my awesome fellow Dallas-ite!
oh, my German cousins turned me on to decadent Nutella when I was a wee lass, and now you tell me there's a vegan version! come on, Eddie, don't tease me like that!!
if it's true, then bring it on, gift me the Chocoreale ...pick ME to win because I will appreciate winning and post it everywhere :-)
And HEY -- welcome Drew!! You are each amazing talent, and together will imbed the Dallas Vegan brand into the hearts of health-lovers everywhere. Engage!

Welcome Drew!
Dallas Vegans Rock!
btw, Eddie - what is that thing with the blueberries on top from Daily Juice? Oh, and how were those chocolates? I wanted to try them out, but I was stuffed from the smoothie and tacos and figured they'd melt in my saddlebags before I could eat them later.
That was a blackberry tart...delish! And the chocolates were great, too...one was filled with durian :)
All this tortilla goodness, pink ties, and vegan nutella? You are living the life!
